Sixty-Eight racers competed in the 4th Annual Stanwood Camano Island Soap Box Derby on Saturday. Veteran racer Maddy Hughes drove the Leslie Tripp State Farm Insurance car to First Place in the Super Stock Division. First-time racer Tracia Imus drove the Starbucks car to First Place in the Stock Division.
First Place winners Maddy Hughes and Tracia Imus will be representing the Stanwood Camano community in Akron, Ohio at the National Soap Box Derby race on July 23, 2011

Veteran racer Andrew Olander brought home the much deserved Sportsmanship award.
The Drivers voted the EnCo #4 car driven by Jared Alfieri Best in Show in the Super Stock Division and the Crab Cracker car driven by Nathaniel Shipley Best in Show in the Stock Division.

There are two roads to the National Race in Akron Ohio for Soap Box Derby Drivers. Drivers can go to Akron as a Local Race Champion or as a Rally Champion. Rally racers win points competing throughout the year at Rally Races. The Stanwood Camano Island Soap Box Derby will be sponsoring the second annual Northwest Regional Rally Race September 17th and 18th. Local drivers will have the opportunity to meet and compete against drivers from all around the Pacific Northwest in this two day race.
