Stanwood is a Derby Town 5th Annual Stanwood Camano Island Soap Box Derby

On June 21,2008 forty racers took the first run down “Derby Hill “ in Stanwood, Washington and a tradition was launched. The race has grown every year. In 2009 fifty-two racers competed. In 2010 the number of racers grew to sixty-one. In 2011 67 drivers zoomed down the hill. Racers come from as far away as Spokane to participate. The community has demonstrated their support of this fun-filled event by turning out in great numbers to cheer the racers on. Racers, families and fans enjoy a full day of excitement as drivers compete for the honor of representing their community at the annual All- America Soap Box Derby Championship race in Akron, Ohio. The Stanwood Camano Island Soap Box Derby Program is supported by community donations, local businesses sponsorships and volunteers who work year round planning, promoting and fundraising for this annual community event.

Stanwood Camano Island Northwest Regional Rally Race September 22 & 23, 2012
Racers from across the Pacific Northwest will be in Stanwood for this exciting two-day race. Regional Rally participants compete year round at race cities in Washington and Oregon. High point winners qualify to travel to Akron, Ohio in July for the All-American Soap Box Derby World Championship Race.
